CLIA Certified

All tests performed in our CLIA certified laboratory using the same technology as hospital labs.

The Gold Standard for Long-term Preservation of Whole Cells.

In addition to preserving DNA, cryopreservation allows families to store intact cellular structures, and whole tissue samples for generations to come. Our lab uses the latest next-generation vapor phase cryopreservation tanks, cryoprotectant infusion, and computer-controlled-rate freezers to protect the integrity of your samples.

Specimen Collection Supplies

Your sample will be collected using the supplies inside your kit, into a vessel that contains tissue culture media and antibiotics.

Temperature Datalogger

This stays with the sample during transport to continuously monitor the sample and ensures sample quality.

Thermal Regulated Transporter

Our collection bag is designed to prevent temperature fluctuations during transport. It ensures that the samples are maintained at the correct temperatures even if the kit is exposed to extreme conditions.

Overnight Courier Service

All Forensic Cryopreservation kits contain a prepaid FedEx Overnight return shipping label – guaranteeing timely delivery of your samples to our laboratory.

At SecuriGene Labs, we employ cutting-edge technology to ensure the meticulous preservation of biological materials through forensic cryopreservation. The process begins with the collection of tissue/forensic samples, utilizing our specialized Forensic Cryopreservation Collection Kit designed for ease of use and rapid delivery. Upon arrival, each sample undergoes rigorous processing, including a sterility check and cell count, verifying the sample’s integrity.

To prevent cellular or tissue damage during the freezing and future thawing processes, cryoprotectants are carefully added to all samples. We adhere to advanced computer-controlled rate freezing, ensuring a gradual temperature reduction in precise intervals to minimize potential damage to the cellular structures. This method goes beyond traditional preservation, with a specific focus on maintaining the integrity of whole cells.

Our storage methodology is built upon next-generation vapor phase storage tanks, a highly secure and contamination-resistant approach. Unlike conventional liquid nitrogen storage tanks, this technology eliminates the risk of contamination associated with direct contact between samples, ensuring the purity of each preserved biological material.

Our commitment to precision extends to the use of specialized cryoprotectants, designed to protect the original structure of the preserved tissue. The process is carefully monitored to prevent excessive cooling that may damage cellular membranes.

Upon successful cryopreservation, you will receive a Certificate of Cryopreservation, offering details about the stored sample, providing you with access, updating, and renewal options for your storage plan. The technical precision, combined with adherence to the highest industry standards, establishes our forensic tissue cryopreservation service as a reliable and advanced solution for preserving the cellular essence of your loved ones.

How it works

cryo-hiw-1
1. Tissue is collected & sent to our lab

Our Forensic Collection Kit contains everything your sample collector needs to obtain a tissue sample for cryopreservation. All kits include a prepaid FedEx return label to ensure samples arrive at our laboratory as quickly as possible.

cryo-hiw-2
2. Sample is processed & analyzed

The sample is processed as soon as it arrives at our lab. A sterility check and cell count is performed in order to validate the integrity of the sample.

cryo-hiw-3
3. Cryoprotectants are added

To prevent cellular or tissue damage during the freezing and future thawing processes, cryoprotectants are added to all samples.

cryo-hiw-4
4. Temperature is gradually reduced

A brisk change in temperature during cooling (thermal shock) often causes cellular lesions and damage to the sample. To safeguard against this, SecuriGene uses state-of-the-art computer-controlled rate freezers to gradually drop the temperature in precise intervals.

cryo-hiw-5
5. Next generation vapor phase storage

Samples are transferred to our next-generation vapor phase storage tanks, which are designed to minimize the risk of contamination commonly associated with older liquid phase storage tanks.

cryo-hiw-6
6. The sample is successfully cryopreserved

The sample is now stable, and safely stored for years to come! You will receive a Certificate of Cryopreservation along with details to access your samples, update your file, or renew your storage plan.

DNA requires immediate processing to ensure its viability for testing in the future. While it may be possible to test degraded DNA for identification purposes, it is not possible to use degraded DNA for more complex tests, such as health analysis or whole genome sequencing.

Testing begins immediately the day that your samples arrive at the laboratory. In some special situations, additional testing may be required, which could increase the turnaround time by a few extra days. You can check the status of your test online 24/7 using your secure account login. Your test report is released immediately once testing is complete.
No, the recent consumption of alcohol is not expected to have any affect on the result of our health tests. However, we do not recommend collecting a sample while under the influence of alcohol, as it may compromise your sample collection. In addition, dehydration (which is common after excess alcohol consumption) may also hinder sample collection.
Once you have finished your sample collection, place the collection kit box into the prepaid plastic USPS envelope included with the kit, then mail your samples to the laboratory via your mailbox or a local USPS drop box. If you wish to monitor the status of your shipment, remember to record the tracking number on the shipping label. You can track the status of your shipment using your tracking number on the USPS website.
No. You can send the kits back to the laboratory using any shipping method of your choosing. Please be advised that if you do not use the included prepaid return mailer to ship your samples, it is your responsibility to ensure that your samples arrive at the laboratory. We will not be able to provide assistance for shipments that do not use our prepaid return mailer.
